Can you believe it’s already mid-October?  I can’t!  It seems like September flew by and now October is doing the same.  As we inch closer to Halloween, it only means one thing: haunted houses!

I’m not sure about you, but I don’t care to admit that I’m scared of haunted house attractions.  I blame my fear on a standing tradition in my hometown, the Jaycees’ Haunted House.  For years, this attraction terrified me, ate one of my shoes, and chased me to the parking lot night after night until I got smart when I was 13 and stopped going.  Funny enough, I am now a member of the same Jaycees organization who organized this house although now we do a Haunted Trail of Horror.  2012 was my first year participating in it and let me tell you – it is way more fun being an actor instead of a participant!  I completely understand why it’s so fun to scare people in these things.

For 2013, I have put together a list of all the haunted house attractions I could find in West Virginia.  It seems that, for whatever reason, there are a lot of annual haunted attractions closed for the 2013 season.  I know with the Jaycees’ Haunted Trail of Horror in Boone County, we are closed due to funding issues and volunteer availability but plan to come back stronger and scarier for 2014.  However, there are still plenty of haunted houses and trails open to scare you this Halloween season.  Take a look at the list below and if you have a haunted attraction you’d like to share, let me know and I will add it to the list!
